Hailun pianos. A couple of years ago we looked for an affordable grand piano with a nice touch and premium sound quality. After playing the Hailun HG-178 at BHA Piano Center in Dayton, OH, I knew we had found what we had been hoping for 15 years to own. It is quite simply our favorite piano to play.
Howard Miller clocks. The sound of Westminster or St. Michael's chimes each quarter hour makes for a pleasant and predictable soundtrack for daily life. This is the model I purchased years ago while in seminary (Westminster chime), though it now has a different pendulum.
The Toyota Yaris. A friend calls it "the huge little car." Looks like a toy, but passenger space is about average and there are many nooks and crannies where small stuff can be stored. Very little cargo space, but 30-32 mpg for short city trips and 40-42 mpg for highway makes it less thirsty than many choices on the road. I have a manual transmission, and it's fun to drive. Bought it used (thanks Dave Ramsey).

Garrison Keillor and A Prairie Home Companion. Years of archives are preserved online, combining humor, storytelling, bluegrass, hymnody, etc. Go ahead, look at the archive. You know you want to listen.
The Pentax K-X Digital SLR. Less expensive than Canon & Nikon but with many desirable features: 1/6000 sec. shutter speed potential and high ISO sensitivity of 12800 (though quite noisy at the high end), HD video capability, and overall value were the selling points for me. There are occasionally some great deals on most digital SLR packages if one is patient.
Books by Carlo Carretto. A Roman Catholic monk, philosopher, and social activist. Quite simply my favorite spiritual writer. And while we're talking books, half.com is a fine place to find those hard-to-locate used tomes.
